VIDEO PROJECTS
Objectives:
106.00 Understand concepts and methods used to create digital video. 106.01 Understand concepts used to create digital video. 106.02 Understand digital video production methods, software, and hardware. |
Essential Question:
What are the basic concepts used to create digital video? What are video production methods, software, and hardware? |
Listen to the audio and place the images on the timeline, matching the beat of the jazz music exactly.
A new image should appear on every beat. Use your markers and other helpful aids in Premier Pro to get this done efficiently and correctly! Next, add position and scale animation to add interest and emphasis to certain parts of the images. Make sure each and every image scales in or out and moves in a direction. Create a title for your project and place it at the beginning of the video. Finally, add opacity animation to make the beginning and end of the video only to fade in and out. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE OFTEN! Use the rubric located below to make sure you have completed all of the project requirements. Once you are satisfied with your project, save it as a Premier Pro Project File (.prproj) and name it as lastname + firstname +jazz. Export the video file and save it in QuickTime format. Name it the same as the project file. Once done, turn into Ms. Scales via Air Drop. |

What is Digital Media Video Project
You have been hired as a video editor by DM Inc. They want you to create a promotional video for the Digital Media Department to advertise the course to other students. You are to follow the directions given by the project manager for the target audience to complete the project. Once complete then you should review the checklist for grading criteria before turning in your work.
Create an edited video in Adobe Premiere Pro (DV NTSC Standard). The concept of the video is "What is Digital Media?" You will use the MP3 audio file Galleria Long in the "Files To Download" section as your audio track. Select images on-line that relate to the "Big 5" areas of Digital Media (graphics, animation, audio, video, web design). No black boarders should show at any time around the images. Experiment with transitions between each picture. Your video will be 30 seconds in length. Your video and audio should fade in at the beginning and fade out at the end of the timeline (you will use the entire song for this project so only your video will need to be faded up/down). Export your completed video as a Quicktime MP4 file and save it as last name + first initial + dmvid (ex. scalesemilyDMvid.mov) in your video folder. |

Camera Techniques ProjectA quick way to tell if a video production is of professional quality or done by an amateur is the use of proper shot composition and camera movement techniques. In this project, you will learn about each type of shot and get practice collecting each one. You will be using your iPhones or Smart phones and you will be pair up with one of your classmates.
Go through the Notes for VIDEO TECHNIQUES and review the common shot compositions and camera movements, you will find a partner. Using the cameras, collect an example of each technique we learned in class. The shot compositions can be either a still image or a moving video. To demonstrate the camera movements, video is needed. Create a New Project in Premier Pro and import your photos and videos from the camera onto your classroom computer. Place one example of each shot list on the list tot the right in the same exact order. For each shot, add a Text slide naming it and put a lower third text in on top of the file. Make sure your photo or video is edited to usable video and the frame size fills the screen. Finally, add a background song and a Title slide with you and your partner's names on it to make your video more interesting to the audience. After you have finished your project, save it as a Premier Pro Project file with the last names of each group member + technique. Export the file as a Quick Time Movie (ex: scalesscalestechnique.mov). Submit the exported video to your period's folder. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements. |

Montage Project
You will choose a topic to use to create a 1-2 minute montage video. You will find quality still images and/or clip art, as well as music and quotes/text about your topic. You MUST use a royalty free song and fade the volume in and out accordingly. You must use titles for the beginning and end of the video and text overlays during the video. You must include appropriate transitions between the image in your video. You must include time-mapped movement of images in your video.
After you have finished your project, save it as a Premiere Pro Project file titled Last Name + First Name + Period # + Montage. Export the file as a .AVI Movie (ex: smithjohn4montage.avi). Submit the exported video to your period's folder. |
Group Video Project
TOPICS:
Videos are a great way to teach someone how to do something, be it simple or complex. You and your group need to come a topic that you can create a video around. Make sure you know who your audience is going to be and create your video accordingly. You will be working in groups of three to four for this project. As a team, decide on a subject matter that appeals to all of your members. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TOPIC APPROVED BY MS. SCALES BEFORE YOU START. Do your research (if needed) about your topic to come up with a 30 to 60 second video that will accurately match your topic. You will first create a storyboard and a script detailing the order of your shots and text. You must turn this in first in order to check out a camera. Don't forget that your video should have proper shot composition and camera techniques! For each portion, you will need text describing the video to the audience and you will need an intro part of your video with text. When you are finished with the Group Video Project, review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the requirements. Save the project with all of the last names from your group + period# + groupvideo. Export the media to a QuickTime format (ex: scalesscalesscales2ndgroupvideo.mov). Submit the exported .MOV file to Ms. Scales via AirDrop. Be sure to fill out the Peer Evaluation Survey! |
